Mississippi continues to face many challenges when it comes to Transportation. Many of these come from our continued growth in both population and in our economic base. However, we have also had to deal with our recovery from one of the largest natural disasters in the history of mankind, Hurricane Katrina. We must build our roads, bridges and rails where we can most effectively help our citizens and our businesses continue to move forward in a positive way. Far too often
MDOT has been stuck in the past by doing things the way they always have only because "that's the way it's always been done". Rudy Warnock feels that it's time to bring a new generation of leadership to
MDOT that will allow for new ideas and thinking on how to best decide where and when we need to spend our hard earned tax dollars for our Transportation needs. We need to continue the things that have worked, but not be scared to try new and innovative ways of doing things at
MDOT.
